As a kid, I spent countless hours typing programs from computer magazines while sitting in my living room at my home computer. I wasn't much of a typist, so mistakes were common. At the time, I thought I was learning programming, but looking back, I was learning persistence... a lesson that would follow me throughout my career.
Decades later, Shadow Fortress follows the same pattern. Every design revision, every print adjustment, and every idea that didn't work taught me something useful.
People tend to think of failure as something to avoid, which is generally true if it's while someone else is paying you for it. But when the only thing failure costs is your own time, it can be one of your best teachers.
